JERSEY CITY RECYCLING INFORMATION

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The Hudson County Improvement Authority manages recycling grants for the county's twelve municipalities and coordinates with local Recycling Coordinators to provide effective review and documentation of recycling efforts, which is required by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. The HCIA also works to promote recycling and recycling education.

PAPER

Telephone Books
Keep clean and dry. Plase them at curbside with mixed paper or take to drop-off site (see below).

Mixed Paper
Includes newspapers, corrugated cardboard, mail, office and computer paper, paperboard cartons.

Keep in clean and dry place. Place in receptacle with recycling sticker attached. (No wax, foil or plastic window envelopes, please).

Corrugated Cardboard
Cardboard with a ribbed section between two heavy layers of cardboard.

Keep clean and dry. Flatten and stack together or place in paper grocery bags.

CONTAINERS

Metals
Aluminum, steel(tin), and bi-metal food and beverage containers; foil and foil products.

Empty and rinse. Flatten to save space. No paint or aerosol cans, pesticide or herbicide spray cans, scrap metal or food residue.

Glass Bottles and Jars
Clear, brown and green glass food and beverage containers.

Empty and rinse. Remove and dispose of lids and rings. DO NOT break.

No ceramics, mirrors, crystal, milk glass, dishes, light bulbs, TV tubes, window and auto glass or cookware.

Plastic Bottles
Plastic bottles with a narrow neck and a #1 or #2 in the recycling symbol at the bottom.

Empty and rinse. Remove metal and plastic rings and lids. Crush or flatten.
